Semillero Interdisciplinario: comunicación bimodal con Lengua de Señas (financing and finished work: 2020-2021)

This proposal aims to generate, through various training, dissemination and work activities, an interdisciplinary group ―Engineering, Cognitive Sciences and Linguistics― for sign languages that advances specific research questions and topics around the topic of processing, description and use of sign languages from diverse disciplinary perspectives, but transversal to the problems of communication between deaf and hearing communities.

Procesamiento metafórico en aprendizaje de alemán como L2 para nativos de español (financing and finished work)

Emiliano de Armas Cabrera, Luis Andrés Ochoa y Roberto Aguirre. Financiación PAIE (2017). Este estudio tiene como interés evaluar los efectos del enmarcado lingüístico de metáforas conceptuales entre lenguas. En este caso, en nativos de español uruguayo que aprenden alemán como lengua extranjera. El estudio involucrará tareas de reconocimiento y comprensión de expresiones metafóricas nuevas y convencionalizadas presentes y/o ausentes en ambas lenguas. Se espera que la interacción entre las variables ayude a explicar la relevancia del pensamiento metafórico en los aspectos semánticos del aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras.

Activación de la metáfora temporal en verbos con esquemas de imagen horizontal y vertical (financing and finished work)

María Noel Macedo and Jhonny Rodríguez. Financing PAIE 2015 Project. The intention in this study is to evaluate if there is some type of interaction between the imagistic representation of the verbs (e.g., RUN as a verb that can be represented with a forward horizontal movement) and that of the location of the actions or states that they represent on a left-right spatial time line. This project has given rise to another ongoing one, called Deliberative space controls non-deliberative space on the spatial representation of events and time. The study is being continued through new tasks and collaborators.

Metáfora temporal para eventos potenciales (financing and finished work)

Julio Santiago and Roberto Aguirre. Funding: ANII Postdoctoral Scholarship to Roberto Aguirre and scholarship from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain to Julio Santiago. Throughout this study, we work with the triple interaction between space, time and potentiality, through the evaluation of the activation of the temporal metaphor in potential events and the registration of the space-potentiality effect. The study is being continued through new tasks and collaborators.
